Types of Sunflower Oil:
- Refined Sunflower Oil:
- This type has been processed to remove impurities, flavor, and color. It has a high smoke point (around 440°F or 227°C), making it great for frying, sautéing, and high heat cooking.
- It is neutral in flavor and versatile in the kitchen.
- Unrefined Sunflower Oil:
- This oil is cold pressed and retains more of the natural flavor and nutrients. It has a lower smoke point (around 330°F or 165°C) and is best used in salad dressings, drizzling over vegetables, or as a finishing oil.
- High-Oleic Sunflower Oil:
- Made from sunflowers that are specifically bred to produce higher levels of oleic acid (a monounsaturated fat), this oil has a higher stability at high temperatures, which is great for deep frying and cooking.
- It is considered a healthier option because of its heart healthy fats.
