Canola oil is a widely used vegetable oil derived from the seeds of the canola plant (a variety of rapeseed). It’s known for its mild flavor, high smoke point, and healthy fat profile. Here’s an in depth look at canola oil:

Types of Canola Oil:

Made from non-GMO, organically grown canola plants, organic canola oil is produced without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

Refined Canola Oil:

This is the most common form of canola oil. It undergoes a refining process that removes impurities, color, and flavor, resulting in a neutral tasting oil.

Refined canola oil has a high smoke point (around 400°F or 204°C), making it suitable for high heat cooking like frying, sautéing, and baking.

Cold-Pressed Canola Oil:

This oil is extracted by mechanically pressing the seeds at low temperatures, without the use of heat or chemicals. It retains more of its natural nutrients and flavor compared to refined canola oil.

It has a lower smoke point (around 325°F or 163°C) and is best used in salad dressings, drizzling over vegetables, or as a finishing oil.
